The Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences (PESS) seeks to make a temporary (10-month) emergency cover appointment of a Teaching Assistant in Sport and Exercise Sciences. To facilitate this we are inviting expressions of interest from potentially suitable candidates for this position.
Bachelor Degree in Sport & Exercise Sciences or equivalent at 2:1 level or above. Candidates must have good laboratory skills in sport and exercise science disciplines, good interpersonal and communication skills. Some relevant teaching experience at 3rd level and /or postgraduate qualification in Sports and Exercise Sciences or cognate discipline would be an advantage.
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To contribute to teaching, assessment and routine course development in the subject area of Sport and Exercise Sciences. Ability to contribute to the teaching of the laboratory and/or practical aspects of undergraduate Sport and Exercise Sciences is essential.
A contract Teaching Assistant in Sport and Exercise Sciences within the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences. This appointment will be filled on a contract basis for 10 months from the end of August 2015.The successful candidate will teach mainly undergraduate Sport and Exercise Science students with potentially some teaching in practical aspects of Physical Education. A 2:1 honours degree or above in Sport and Exercise Science or a related discipline and good interpersonal skills are essential for this post. Experience in teaching or laboratory tutoring in third level students would be an advantage. Some postgraduate research experience is desirable. Candidates with postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline are preferred. The appointee will teach students in laboratory, tutorial and practical settings within the department, and will assess coursework from students.
